1. The demo derby mentioned actually happens at the Exhibition Grandstand, which is a different site at Prairieland Park than where the stadium is being proposed, which is at the Marquis Downs grandstand (closed horseracing track).
2. The CPL stadium's biggest obstacle is the city breaking ground on the new downtown hockey arena (ah yes, good ol' hockey being prioritized before anything else), which has been the city's most obvious top priority over the last couple years. Until ground breaks for that project, IMO we won't get approval for this project.
3. It's very disappointing that the cricket infrastructure that was originally going to be part of this complex has been replaced with *&$+@# baseball infrastructure. There're questions about conflict of interest when it comes to people on the city payroll with local sports infrastructure decision-making power who also are heavily connected to local baseball. Cricket hardly has any playing fields, certainly not enough to accommodate the growth the sport is experiencing locally, yet here we are with yet another blasted baseball diamond being included.
